Money Math Detailed Description

The Money Math Course (MMC) consists of 7 integrated interactive units designed to introduce the basic monetary units. Students will learn to count, add and make sums with money.

1	Pennies Learn about pennies. Count and add pennies and make sums with them.
2	Nickels Learn about nickels.Count and add nickels and make sums with them.
3	Pennies and Nickels A review unit where the lesson and exercises involve problems with combination of pennies and nickels. Count pennies and nickels, add them and make sums with them.
4	Dimes Learn about dimes. Count and add dimes and make sums with them.
5	Pennies, Nickels, and Dimes A review unit where the lesson and exercises involve problems with combination of pennies, nickels, and dimes. Count pennies, nickles, and dimes. Add them, make sums with them.
6	Quarters Learn about nickels. Count and add quarters and make sums with them.
7	Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, and Quarters A review unit where the lesson and exercises involve problems with combination of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Count, add, and make sums with pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters..

Each MMC unit is conveniently subdivided into 15-minute Learning Session (LS), with 4 learning sessions to introduce, reinforce and review the contents of the unit.

Each Learning Session is made up of an interactive game plus a worksheet to help students organize and pace their learning.

3	Learning to provide the correct amount of money based on the coins provided	Make the Money Amounts: An interactive exercise where students have to make up the assigned amount of money by providing the right number and combination of coins.	Here you go: Pay the correct amount by reading the cost and circling the correct number of coins
4	Test	Take online test. The test scores are saved in a progress report.

At the completion of the course, the student should demonstrate the ability and confidence to distinguish between each of the different coins and their values, as well as being able to work with different types of coins to solve basic problems involved with money.

The following recommendations provide guidelines for students wishing to gain the most benefit from their study using the program:

Continuity is important. The course is designed to be self-pacing, so you may be working on one lesson session for several days or complete two lesson sessions in one day. It is critical is to work continuously and regularly in order to develop good learning habits that will stay with them throughout their education.

Be flexible. It is recommended that a student should work on the course for 15-30 minutes a day. However, there is a lot of flexibility in how you can use that time. You can choose to just do the interactive game during one session, and tackle the worksheets the next day, or combine both activities in each session until the designated lesson session is completed.

Do not skip worksheets! All lesson sessions consists of an interactive program and a printable worksheet. It is very important to complement the interactive programs with the worksheets. They have been designed as a valuable learning reinforcement to further help students improve their reading and writing skills.

Complete the assessments. At the end of each unit there a test is provided to evaluate the learning progress of the student.
